Table B-1: Transmitter and PC network settings
Connection type
Direct connection: Ethernet cable
connected directly between Channel A
or Channel B and the PC Ethernet
adapter.
Local network connection: The
transmitter and PC are connected to a
common network with a DHCP.
Note
If IP Address cannot be changed (and IP Address set from Local Display Switches appears selected on
Prolink III or on a web browser page), the rotary switches on the back side of the display circuit board have
been used to manually set the 4th octet of the IP address and the IP address cannot be changed using the
software or display. For example, if the rotary switches are set to 005, then the IP address for the transmitter
is 192.168.0.005. To remove this restriction, set the rotary switches to 000.
Note
If your PC has more than one wired network adapter, be sure to select the adapter that is connected to the
transmitter.
B.2.3 Connect ProLink III to the transmitter
CAUTION
If the transmitter is in a hazardous area, do not open the wiring compartment while the transmitter is
powered up. Opening the wiring compartment while the transmitter is powered up could cause an
explosion. To connect to the transmitter in a hazardous environment, use a connection method that does
not require opening the wiring compartment.
Prerequisites
The transmitter and PC must be properly configured and physically connected to each other by an Ethernet or
USB cable, or they must both be connected to a local area Ethernet network.
