Recording Critical Switch Information

1. Create a serial connection to the healthy CP card:
2. Log into the healthy CP card as Admin, then enter 0 to log into Switch 0 (see

a. Disable any serial communication programs running on the workstation
(such as synchronization programs).
b. Insert a serial cable into the terminal serial port (second serial port from
the top; see
Figure 20
c. Connect other end of serial cable to a serial port on the workstation.
If necessary, the adapter on the serial cable can be removed to allow for a
serial RJ45 connection.
d. Open the terminal emulator application and configure as follows:
— For Windows systems:

Flow control
— For most UNIX systems, enter the following string at the prompt:
tip /dev/ttyb -9600
e. When the terminal emulator application stops reporting information, press
Enter.
