32) Measurement of Back Lash
between Pinion (B) and Reverse (C)
Gears and Shim Selection
Before measuring backlash between pinion
(B) and reverse (C) gears, establish pinion
(B) gear height.
Refer to "Measurement of Pinion (B) Gear
Height and Shim Selection" in Chapter 6.
1. In accordance with procedure described in "Assembling
Lower Unit" steps 2 to 7 on Chapter 6, install parts up to
pump case (lower).
Remove forward (A) gear before beginning the
work.
Attach dial gauge plate 1 and secure it using bolt (M8,

Attach backlash measuring tool kit parts 3 to 8 to
