When you start PutImage,
one of these messages
appears:
• Critical error, invalid
checksums have occurred.
• Critical error, invalid
image file.
• Critical error, a write fault
has occurred.
• Critical error, erase was
bad.

Solution
Unload the EMM manager (EMM386.EXE) and try running PutImage again.
Three things could have happened:
• You do not have an external power supply attached to the reader. You
must provide an external power supply for the reader before you
execute PutImage. Connect a communications dock or optical link
adapter to the reader, and then connect a power supply to the dock or
adapter.
• There is a hardware problem.
• Some other subsystem (such as a PC card) is presently using the 12V.
Wait, and try using PutImage again later.

A critical error occurred. You cannot reboot the reader, but you can save
the data held in conventional memory and reload the reader's flash
memory. For help, see "Dumping the Reader's 640K Conventional
Memory" and "Loading Flash Memory" in Chapter 9.
