uses standard DMS line cards

delay, when Star Modules are located up to 500 miles from the DMS-100
switch
uses accepted DMS-100 hardware such as the NTMX81 DS-1 interface
cards and the NT6X53AA power converters in the Star Hub
provides for a remote-off-remote configuration when the Star Remote
System connects to a Remote Switching Center-SONET
