Parameters
56 — Specifies that 56k byte (7-bits per byte) encoding will be used for the associated DS-0
channels.
64 — Specifies that 64k byte (8-bits per byte) encoding will be used for the associated DS-0
channels.
subrate
Syntax
subrate {digital-link} rate-step

Context
config>port>tdm>ds3
Description
This command configures the channel service unit (CSU) compatibility mode to interoperate with
existing DS-3 subrate standards.
This configuration applies only for non-channelized DS-3s. This command is not supported on
channelized ASAP MDAs.
The no form of this command remove the subrate functionality.
Default
no subrate
Parameters
digital-link — Enables the Digital-Link (Quick Eagle) CSU compatibility mode.
rate-step — Specify the subrate value for the associated DS-3.
threshold
Syntax
threshold {ber-sd | ber-sf} rate {1 | 5 | 10 | 50 | 100}
no threshold {ber-sd | ber-sf}
Context

Description
This command configures the line signal degradation bit error rate (BER) and line signal failure
thresholds.
Line signal (b2) bit interleaved parity error rates are measured and when they cross either the
degradation or failure thresholds alarms are raised (see the report-alarm line & section command),
furthermore if the failure threshold is crossed the link will be set to operationally down.
The no form of this command reverts to the default value.

ber-sd — Specifies the BER that specifies signal degradation.
ber-sf — Specifies the BER that specifies signal failure.
