R A T C H E T PAWL AND PAWL SPRING
DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURES (Figs. 12-46)
1. Disengage pawl spring from pawl and slide off
F O U R - L O B E CAM cam-follower pin.
1. Remove E-ring and slide cam off shaft.
RATCHET WHEEL
1. Remove E-ring, hold relay armature against
relay coil and slide ratchet wheel off shaft.
CA UTION: When reassembling ratchet wheel be
careful not to damage ratchet dog.
NOTE: Early production models are equipped
with an "E" retaining ring. Later models have
slots at both top and bottom of pin. When servic­
ing, replace "E" ring if one is used.
RATCHET DOG:
1. Remove attaching screw and lift ratchet dog off
mounting plate.
