SERVICE OPERATIONS
The brake system should be checked visually each
time the car is lubricated. When the car is raised
on a lift for inspection, brake lines, hoses, and ca­
bles should be inspected for signs of chafing, deteri­
oration, or other damage.
A careful check for leaks
should be made.
Repairs as necessary should be
performed as outlined in this section.
Each time the car is serviced for any reason there
is an opportunity and obligation to check the opera­
tion of the brake system.
If the brake pedal can be
depressed to within less than 2 in. of floor mat when
brakes are applied, or if pulls, grabs, or other i r ­
regularities are noted, a need for brake service ex­
ists. No car should leave the Service Department
with brakes that are not safe
