Inspection Procedure E-5

The windshield washer does not work at all.

Either the windshield washer switch input circuit system, the windshield washer
motor, or the front-ECU may be defective.
Is the windshield wiper operating normally?
Check the MUT-II input signals.
D Windshield washer switch
Check the windshield washer motor (Refer to GROUP 51 -
Windshield Wipers and Washer).
Measure at the windshield washer motor connector F-21.
D Disconnect the connector and test on the harness side.
D Continuity between terminal 1 and body earth
OK : Continuity confirmed.
Check the following connectors: F-21, C-112, C-125, A-11X
OK
Check the trouble
symptoms.
NG
Check the harness between the windshield washer motor and
the front-ECU.
Replace front-ECU.
Inspection Procedure E-6
Windshield wipers are not operated with the switch in INT,
WASHER and MIST positions, and operated in a low mode
with the switch in Lo and Hi positions.
Fail-safe function may be operated due to the fault on SWS communication line.
Fail-safe function is activated with the ignition switch in ACC position when the
ignition switch ACC signal is not input due to the open circuit, etc.
Check the MUT-II input signals.
D Ignition switch (ACC)
Check the trouble symptoms.
Replace front-ECU.
Check the trouble symptoms.
Replace column switch.
Check the trouble symptoms.
