5–46. Hammer Bank Cable Harness
NOTE: On floor cabinet (XQ) models, the hammer bank cable harness travels
down the right side of the cabinet to reach the power supply and logic assem-
blies.
b. Installation
1. Place hammer bank cable harness (28) in printer.
2. Place connector S2 (23) on casting (24).
3. Install two screws (21) and washers (22).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for connectors S1 (25), S3 (26), and S4 (27).
5. Reconnect four connectors (20).
6. Route hammer bank cable harness (28) around left of casting (23) to power supply.
When reconnecting power supply capacitors, make sure polarity is correct.
Incorrect polarity will damage printer.
7. Place terminal C2+ (15) and two terminal lugs (16) on positive terminal of capacitor C2 (17).
8. Install screw (13) and star washer (14).
9. Place terminal bank C+ (8) on positive terminal of capacitor C1 (12).
10. Place terminal bank C– (9), connector COM 1 (10), and connector COM 2 (11) on negative ter-
minal of capacitor C1 (12).
11. Install two screws (6) and washers (7).
12. Route hammer bank cable harness (28) underneath shuttle motor (29) to rear of card cage (3).
13. Place connector J3 (5) on card cage (3).
14. Install two screws (4).
15. Place connector J1 (2) on card cage (3).
16. Install two screws (1).
17. Slip comb bracket (19) under screws (18).
18. Tighten two screws (18).
19. Retie cable as necessary.
20. Put ribbon drive to operating position per paragraph 3–4c, step 9.
21. Perform steps 2 through 4 of paragraph 5–45b.
22. Replace cover (pedestal models) or right side cover (XQ models) per paragraph 5–18b.
