5–14. Shuttle Belt (Figure 5–10)
a. Tension Check
1.
Gain access to belt by performing steps 1–4 of paragraph 5–27a.
2.
Observe belt (1) and press down in middle.
3.
If belt deflection is significantly more or less than 0.25 inches, perform (b) below.
4.
Observe that belt tracking provides the specified above.
b. Adjustment
1.
Remove covers per paragraph 5–18a.
2.
Loosen four nuts (2).
Belt must not rub on timing disk. Damage to disk will occur.
3.
Position motor (3) to obtain proper belt tension and tracking. Maintain belt tracking clearance at
0.14 in. minimum between belt and disk. Do not allow motor to tilt.
4.
Tighten four nuts (2).
5.
Replace covers per paragraph 5–18b.
6.
Replace cam cover by performing steps 10 through 13 of paragraph 5–27b.
