5–42. Power Supply (Figure 5–41)
a. Removal
1.
On pedestal models, remove cover per paragraph 5–18a. On floor cabinet (XQ) models, remove
right side cover per paragraph 5–18a.
2.
Swing out card cage (3). On floor cabinet (XQ) models, remove the wingnut on the right, disen-
gage the bracket, and swing the card cage all the way down.
3.
Disconnect cables (4) from power supply PCBA (5).
4.
On pedestal models, tag and remove leads (6) from AC line filter (7). (This step not necessary on
XQ models.)
5.
At capacitor C1 (10), identify and disconnect all wires which leave the power supply assembly
(11). At power supply PCBA, identify and disconnect all cables and leads that exit the power
supply assembly.
6.
Loosen two nuts (12) and slide transformer cover (13) up out of the way. Identify and remove all
leads that exit the power supply assembly.
7.
At rear of card cage (3), identify and remove connectors with cables that exit the power supply
assembly.
8.
On floor cabinet (XQ) models, remove ground strap from upper right side of power supply as-
sembly and the two mounting screws at the base (not shown).
9.
Carefully remove power supply assembly (11) from printer base (18).
b. Installation
Avoid pinching wires around power supply assembly.
1.
Place power supply assembly (11) on printer base (18).
2.
Install screw (16) and terminal lug (17) at T1–7.
3.
Install a screw (14) and terminal lug (15) at T1–1.
4.
Slide transformer cover (13) into place and tighten two nuts (12). On floor cabinet (XQ) models,
install ground strap at upper right of power supply assembly.
5.
At capacitor C1 (10) connect wires according to their labels. (Note that normal color coding is not
used here.)
7.
On pedestal models, connect wires (6) to AC line filter (7) according to their tags.
8.
Connect cables (4) to power supply PCBA (5). On floor cabinet (XQ) models, install and tighten
two base mounting screws (not shown).
9.
Swing card cage (3) back into place. On floor cabinet (XQ) models, engage card cage with brack-
et, fasten wingnut, and swing card cage into closed position.
10. Close rear door (2) and tighten two fasteners (1).
11. On pedestal models, install cover per paragraph 5–18b. On floor cabinet (XQ) models, install
right side cover per paragraph 5–18b.
