Section II. ALIGNMENTS AND ADJUSTMENTS

5–3. Ribbon Hub Height Adjustment (Figure 5–1)
NOTE: Perform the following procedure only if the ribbon is not winding onto
the takeup reel (both directions) so that it is centered between the flanges. Before
adjusting ribbon hub height, check ribbon tracking per paragraph 5–4.
1. Open front cover (1).
2. Check that ribbon is winding onto take up reel, without interference and centered between the
flanges. Check travel in both directions starting with unloaded take up reels.
3. Check distance between bottom of hub (3) and gearbox cover. (Gearbox cover is immediately
beneath hub.) Hub should just clear gearbox cover.
4. If clearance is incorrect, adjust each hub as follows:
(a) Remove ribbon spools (2) from hubs (3).
(b) Loosen hub setscrew (4).
(c) Reposition hub (3) as required so ribbon winds centered between flanges.
Do not over–tighten hub setscrew.
(d) Tighten setscrew (4).
