5–39. Paper Out Optical Sensor (Figure 5–38)
NOTE: Clean sensor and recheck operation before replacing. Paper out optical
sensor components are no longer available from Printronix. A defective paper
out optical sensor is replaced by installing belt cover 102654–002 and mechani-
cal paper out switch 102634–901 (pedestal models) or switch 102634–903 (XQ
models). For details on converting from optical to mechanical paper out sensor,
contact the Printronix technical assistance center.
a. Removal
1.
Remove printer cover per paragraph 5–18a.
2.
Swing out card cage (1).
3.
Remove two screws (2) and star washers (3).
4.
Slide power supply (4) toward rear of printer to gain access to paper out switch assembly (5).
5.
Disconnect connector PSP5 (6) from power supply PCBA (7). Cut cable ties as necessary to free
cable to switch assembly (5).
6.
Remove two nuts (8) and washers (9).
7.
Separate sensor PCBA (10), sensor support (11), and cover (12) from paper throat (13).
8.
Remove two nuts (14).
9.
Lift prism (15) off paper throat (13).
b. Installation
1.
Place prism (15) on paper throat (13).
2.
Install two nuts (14).
3.
Place sensor PCBA (10), sensor support (11), and cover (12) on paper throat (13).
4.
Install two nuts (8) and washers (9).
5.
Connect connector PSP5 (6) to power supply PCBA (7). Retie cable as necessary.
6.
Put power supply (4) back in place.
7.
Install two screws (2) and star washers (3).
8.
Swing card cage (1) back into place.
9.
Install printer cover per paragraph 5–18b.
