EXTERNAL DTMF REMOTE
When installing the optional UT-49
U.S.A. version can be remotely controlled using DTMF sig-
nals on the sub band. To operate external DTMF remote, a
144 MHz or 430(440) MHz transceiver with a DTMF encoder
is required.
➀
Set the sub band frequency to receive a control signal
(DTMF code).
• The optional tone squelch function can be used for the sub band
to increase remote control reliability. (p. 54)
➁
Program a 3-digit password into the sub band's code chan-
nel 5, if desired. (p. 58)
• The initial value of code channel 5 is "000; receive accept." If you
do not require the password, set the channel as "receive inhibit."
➂
Select the main band by pushing a tuning dial, then set the
desired frequency for operation.
➃
Push [DTMF] one or more times until "REMO" appears to
select standby for the remote control.
➄
Set the operating frequency of the controller transceiver
equal to the sub band frequency of the IC-2710H.
• Make sure a tone frequency is set when using the optional tone
squelch function with the IC-2710H.
• The external DTMF remote does not accept a control signal on
the main band frequency.

To cancel standby for the remote control, push [DTMF].
• "REMO" disappears.
• Pushing [FUNC] then [FD-OFF] also cancels standby for the re-
mote control

Questions and answers
Set sub-audible tone to 67 Hz. How do I save it so that it transmits?
To save the sub-audible tone setting to 67 Hz on the Icom IC-2710H for transmission, follow these steps:
1. Enter the desired frequency and ensure the radio is in VFO mode.
2. Access the tone setting by pressing the appropriate button (e.g., [SET] or similar).
3. Navigate to the sub-audible tone frequency setting using the tuning dial.
4. Select 67.0 Hz as the tone frequency.
5. Exit the tone setting mode by pressing [ECLR] or the tuning dial.
6. To save the tone setting permanently, overwrite the memory channel with the updated settings.
Note: If you do not overwrite the memory channel, the tone setting will be cleared when switching to memory/call mode.
