Creating a vPC Domain

When you disable the vPC feature, the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switch clears all the vPC configurations.

This example shows how to disable the vPC feature:
switch# configure terminal
switch(config)# no feature vpc
Creating a vPC Domain
You must create identical vPC domain IDs on both the vPC peer devices. This domain ID is used to
automatically form the vPC system MAC address.
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have enabled the vPC feature.
You must configure both switches on either side of the vPC peer link with the following procedure.

switch(config)# vpc domain

switch# show vpc brief
Purpose
Enters configuration mode.
Disables vPCs on the switch.
(Optional)
Displays which features are enabled on the
switch.
(Optional)
Copies the running configuration to the startup
configuration.
Purpose
Enters configuration mode.
Creates a vPC domain on the switch, and enters the
vpc-domain configuration mode. There is no default
domain-id ; the range is from 1 to 1000.
Note
You can also use the vpc domain command to
enter the vpc-domain configuration mode for an
existing vPC domain.
(Optional)
Displays brief information about each vPC domain.
