DNS Server
A DNS server is a server that contains a database of hostnames and their associated public IP addresses.
This server is used to resolve hostnames to a unique public IP address when requested.
When a user enters a URL e.g.,
DNS server and requesting the webserver IP address.
Hostname URLs are easier for humans to understand and remember than IP address numbers. A host's IP
addresses can change from time to time hence a DNS server is required to locate and translate a hostname.
DNS Servers can be used to block unwanted content, such as explicit material. By using a filtered DNS server,
the hostname of these materials will not be resolved, allowing parental control to accessible content.
Parental Control DNS are available as a free service or customizable paid service. For example: OpenDNS
FamilyShield, Norton ConnectSafe, Yandex.DNS, Comodo Secured, etc.
