any installation, removal, or replacement procedure. Improper grounding can cause electrostatic discharge.

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following items available:
T-15 Torx screwdriver
Torque screwdriver
Procedure
Procedure
1. Power down the server.
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
4. Do one of the following:
If the server is in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration.
If the server is in rack mode: Remove the server from the rack .
5. Remove the front bezel .
6. Remove the access panel .
7. If installed, remove the air baffle .
8. Allow the heatsink to cool.
9. Remove the heatsink:
a. Disconnect the heatsink fan cable.
b. Loosen one pair of diagonally opposite screws halfway, and then loosen the other pair of screws.
c. Completely loosen all screws in the same sequence.
d. Remove the heatsink from the processor backplate.
