Workstation Components
The following table provides a detailed description of the workstation components. The number
following each item corresponds to the numbered component locations illustrated in Figure 10-1.

The following paragraphs describe each component in the instrument. The instrument contains
the optical and imaging systems and the mechanical tray and slide handling devices.

The workstation computer system includes a
keyboard, a mouse, and a mouse pad (collectively
represented by items Œ)
The workstation computer system includes a color
monitor. The workstation computer (not shown) is
typically mounted on the back of the monitor.
The modem (or router, depending on configuration)
allows BD to communicate remotely to the device.
The laser printer is used to print a variety of reports.
The printer is connected to the workstation computer.
The workstation components are placed on an
'
adjustable cart, which can be configured to suit the
needs of the laboratory.
Trays to be processed are placed in the input hopper
('), trays that are finished processing can be
removed from the output hopper (").
Slides are placed in special trays for processing; each
"
tray holds up to eight slides. The instrument holds up
to 36 trays in each of the hoppers.
The extendible utility shelf can hold up to 40 trays
filled with slides (30 pounds). This shelf is a temporary
storage area for loading and unloading trays.
This switch powers the instrument on (to the right) and

off (to the left). Use this switch only when directed by
BD Technical Service and Support.
