Troubleshooting Guide

Symptom
The BD FocalPoint™ Slide
Profiler Main Window does not
appear after a restart.
Clicking the mouse has no
effect.
The system displays the
ERROR status
The automatic backup
procedure fails.
The printer is not responding
The times printed on the
reports are incorrect.

System Time

The workstation keeps time with its own internal clock. If the date and time shown on any report
are incorrect, contact BD Technical Support. (Note that the system's clock may vary from a watch
or laboratory clock by a few minutes.)

Possible Cause
Software error.
The workstation software is frozen.
The system cannot complete calibration or a
component may have failed.
No USB flash drive connected to workstation
USB flash drive is not formatted with Microsoft
Windows VFAT32 format.
USB flash drive is full.
Software error.
The printer is off-line or in an error state.
There is a paper jam.
The printer is off-line
There is a printer malfunction.
The internal system clock has lost the correct
time.
Solution
Contact BD Technical Support.
Contact BD Technical Support.
Reboot the instrument by turning off the power
to the instrument only. Wait 30 seconds and
turn the power back on. After the instrument
software reboots (about 5 minutes) the status
should change to OK. If not, repeat the reboot
procedure a second time.
If the system still does not respond, check the
system message for Cal Plate Dirt. If the
calibration plate is dirty, refer to Section 16.3.
Otherwise, Contact BD for further instructions.
Insert a Microsoft Windows VFAT32 formatted
USB flash device into the USB slot on the
workstation.
Insert the USB flash drive in a windows
computer and format it with the VFAT32 disk
format.
Replace the USB flash drive with a Microsoft
Windows VFAT32 formatted USB device.
Contact BD Technical Support.
Inspect the Message Window on the printer to
determine the cause of the printer error.
Refer to the manual that came with the printer
for instructions on clearing a paper jam.
Press the On-Line button on the printer.
Refer to the manual that came with the printer
for instructions.
