For slide sign out, a date and slide selection must be made. See Figure 7-9.
a Date Selection
In the Date Selection area, use the calendar to select the day for sign out. Slides
processed on the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler before the selected date will be signed
out. For example, if May 17 is selected, slides processed through May 16 will be
signed out.
b Slide Selection
In the Slide Selection area, select the desired group(s) of slides for sign out.
Ready for Signout: These slides have been through the review station and triaged as
"ready to sign out." They have a green dot next to the accession number on the slide list.
Awaiting Further Review: This case might be held for further screening, usually for QC
review or for review by the pathologist. These cases have an exclamation point next to
the accession number on the slide list. The color of the exclamation point indicates the
review required: red for review by pathologist, or gold for directed QC review. Open the
QC Review Application and the MD Review Application to confirm the review status of
these slides prior to signing them out.
No Further Review: These slides might be triaged this way from the BD FocalPoint™
Slide Profiler
In the US, the BD FocalPoint™ GS Imaging System will not designate BD SurePath™
slides as No Further Review. Slides must have a full slide review.
Not Reviewed: These slides have not yet been reviewed with the BD FocalPoint™ GS
Imaging System.
Each lab will have its own protocol for reviewing and screening
slides on the BD FocalPoint™ GS Imaging System. Some labs may
select Ready for Signout and Awaiting Further Review. Other labs
may want the cytotechnologist to only use the "Slide" button on the
window, and return to the slide list in that manner. In that case, Not

For BD SurePath™ slides in the US, this selection should be unchecked. The
BD FocalPoint™ GS Imaging System combined with No Further Review is not available
in the US.
b Enable Enhanced QC Review
If this box is checked, the system will provide notification of slides that the
BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler has designated as QC Review, and a yellow icon will
identify them in the slide list. If this box is not checked, then no notification (pop-up
window) will appear and the icon will be green in the slide list.
