To perform a manual backup on a USB flash drive (for USB backup systems):

Plug a USB flash drive into a USB port on the system console.

Choose Utilities†Backup. The System begins the backup. When complete, a window
similar to the one illustrated in Figure 15-12 appears indicating success or failure of the
backup.
When performing the backup procedure, some problems can be corrected by reading the
messages displayed in the Information field of the Main Window. Error messages provide
diagnostic information such as:
**Error** daily_backup: No backup media loaded or drive not ready. Aborting Backup
It should be clear how to remedy these problems, but the solution for some messages may not
be apparent. In these cases, use a new media for the backup. If unable to correct the problem,

15.12 Shutting Down the System

The Shutdown command closes down all functions of the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler
computer. Occasionally, a BD-authorized technical or field support employee may ask to do this
for troubleshooting purposes. This may also be needed if the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler
needs to be shut down for an extended period.

A supervisory-level password is required to perform this operation.

Remove all trays from the input hopper.
If the system is currently idle, go to Step 4. If the system is currently processing, go to Step 2.

From the Main Window, choose the Eject icon to eject the tray in process.

When the tray has ejected to the output hopper, lift the output hopper door and remove the
tray just ejected.
CAUTION
shut down the instrument. Follow the shutdown
procedure exactly.
