Understanding Report Printing Operations

There are two types of printing operations on the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler: printing and
reprinting. Both operations use the concept of a print set. It is important to understand what a
print set is and the differences between these two printing operations; the differences are subtle,
but critical to producing the reports most useful in your laboratory.
12.1.1

Print Sets

The contents of a report are based on a concept called a print set. Each time reports are printed
(either automatically, or from the Instrument Main Window), a print set is created that groups all
slides processed since the last time reports were printed.
When using the Reprint function to print a report that has already
been printed, a new print set is not created. Instead, choose the
print set to reprint. Refer to Reprinting in Section 12 for details on
The creation of a print set occurs in the following manner:
1
As slides are processed by the system, slide results are posted in the slide results area of
the Main Window.
2
When the Print command is chosen from the Report window, all qualified slides in the slide
results area are scored, a print set is created, and all pre-selected reports print (each slide
type, conventional or BD SurePath™, has separate reports).
