Warnings and Cautions

The following table lists the warning and caution labels that appear on the BD FocalPoint™ GS
Imaging System. The table includes the text of each label, the general location of the label on the
instrument, and a description of the effect if the warning or caution is not adhered to.

Caution: Connect BD authorized
equipment only.
Caution: Do not place objects on
device.
Caution: Maximum tray capacity. Do not
overfill.
Caution: Slides must be free from all
obscuring material.
Warning: Do not install trays until all
motion has ceased.
Warning: Do not remove trays until all
motion has ceased.
Warning: Do not touch chain.

Effect
Non-BD equipment connected to the power strip may
adversely affect the performance of the system.
Objects placed on the device may fall into and jam the
instrument. Liquids may spill into internal components and
create a potential shock hazard.
If trays are loaded above the indicator arrow on the inside
of the input hopper, the hopper door will not close, and the
instrument will not operate.
Slides with obscuring matter (such as dust, fingerprints,
cytotechnologist marks, and other optically significant
debris) may be rejected by the instrument.
If trays are inserted before all moving parts have stopped,
injuries may occur, or the instrument may jam.
If trays are removed before all moving parts have stopped,
injuries may occur, or the instrument may jam.
If hands, clothes, or jewelry come in contact with the tray
moving chain, injuries may occur, or the instrument may
jam.
Objects or pressure exceeding 30 lb may cause physical
injury and damage the system.
