The Frame Relay Module (FRM) is a high-performance, multiprotocol branch access
device, capable of transmittinh LAN data, legacy data (e.g., SDLC, bisync, async),
voice, and fax over a single frame relay link. A powerful management capability
allows allocation of frame relay bandwidth to ensure that each type of traffic receives
the necessary quality of service.
The FRM family shares much functionality and compatibility with Cabletron's Smart-
Switch 1800, FRX4000, and FRX6000.

Each FRM is a two-slot module that mounts into a SmartSwitch 9000. An FRM can
interact with other FRM modules, but not with other modules in the SmartSwitch
9000, with the exception of a cable connection from each FRM to a LAN interface
module in the SmartSwitch 9000, which provides LAN connectivity to the WAN
interfaces on the FRM.
Each FRM with a video interface features an intuitive, menu-based management
structure that allows complete local and remote control of other FRMs, as well as
SmartSwitch 1800s, FRX4000s, and FRX6000s.
