Introduction

Required Configuration

The FRM supports connections to Novell IPX networks, for the purpose of routing
traffic among LAN-attached workstations and local/remote servers, over frame relay
or X.25, or between local LANs.
IPX support includes:
Connection of LAN-attached workstation to remote router or server via X.25,
frame relay, Ethernet, or Token Ring
Filtering of certain types of traffic, for traffic control and access security
between the LAN and WAN
Support of IPX versions of RIP (routing information protocol), SAP (service
advertising protocol), periodic RIP, periodic SAP
Dynamic and static routing
NetBIOS™ support
RFC 1490 encapsulation
To run IPX in an FRM, make sure the following are properly configured in the
database:
Node
parameters, which is general configuration that must be done no matter
which protocols will be run in the node. See Chapter 4.
RLPs
that will contain the interface(s) to the user device(s), plus Line Interface
Card(s) supporting the ports that will be the interfaces. See Chapter 5.
Loaded
Protocol(s): IPX, and the transport protocol: frame relay or X.25. See
Chapter 5.
LAN interface(s)
Frame relay port(s)
relay PVC. See Chapter 7 (frame relay) or Chapter 8 (X.25).
IPX parameters described in this chapter.
that will connect to any attached LAN(s). See Chapter 5.
and/or
X.25 port(s)
that will connect to a network or frame
