Commissioning drives via device master files

6.3.1

Overview

If you do not have the "SINAMICS Startdrive" option package or for drives of the SINAMICS
family that are not contained in the "SINAMICS Startdrive" option package, you integrate drives
in the TIA Portal using the device master files.
You commission a drive in the device master files in the following steps:
● Create or open a TIA Portal project
● Insert an SINUMERIK MCU
● Insert a drive system, e.g. SINAMICS S120 CU320, from the hardware catalog into the
project
● Interconnect SINUMERIK MCU and the drive system
● Set the basic parameters of the drive system
● Create and configure the drive axes and telegrams for communication
● Load project data into the target device
● Establish an online connection between Startdrive and the target device
● Perform the commissioning steps
6.3.2

Inserting and networking a SINAMICS drive

Preconditions
● The TIA Portal has been started.
● A SINUMERIK MCU has been inserted.
Procedure
1. Switch to the "Network view".
2. In the hardware catalog under "Further field devices > PROFINET IO > Drivers > SIEMENS
AG > SINAMICS > Head module", select a drive, e.g "SINAMICS S120/S150 CU320-2 PN
Vx.x".
3. Drag the drive onto the "Network view".
The drive appears in the network view.
In the project navigator, the drive appears in the project navigator below "Ungrouped
devices".
