Introduction

This chapter describes the Clean Drive and Demo options contained in the Maintenance menu.
Use the Clean Drive option to clean tape drives installed in the Compaq StorageWorks SSL2000
Series Library (AIT Library). Use the Demo option to fully exercise the Library robotics.
IMPORTANT: Perform the Clean Drive option from the Maintenance menu only when the Library displays
a message informing you that a drive needs cleaning.
NOTE: When Compaq introduces new Library firmware, a qualified service technician must install it.

Removing the cleaning cartridge
Exercising the Library robotics

There are two ways to run a cleaning cartridge:
Automatically —by enabling the Auto Clean option
Manually —by selecting the CLEAN DRIVE command from the Maintenance submenu
on the front panel display
