Bus Length Limitations

A single-ended Fast/Wide SCSI bus is limited in length to 10 ft (3 m), including cabling within
the units. A differential Fast/Wide SCSI bus can be up to 82 ft (25 m) in length, including
cabling within the units. If all devices and host adapter are LVD, length is limited to
39 ft (12 m).

Independent SCSI Buses for SE

For those two-drive applications where both AIT drives run in SCSI SE mode (rather than LVD
mode), each drive must be connected to its own SCSI bus.

Physical Configuration

The Library is configured as a tabletop model. To convert a tabletop Library to a rackmounted
model, order the Compaq Conversion Kit Part Number 175199-B21.

Shuttle Lockdown Mechanism

Compaq has installed a shuttle lockdown mechanism as a precautionary safety mechanism to
prevent damage to the Library during shipment from the factory. The mechanism is a spring-
loaded screw in the back of the Library that secures the shuttle to a bracket.
NOTE: You must release the shuttle lockdown mechanism before powering up the unit or it will not operate.
See Appendix C, "Installation," for more information.
