Inspection

Check the fluid level in the reservoir. It should be between MAX
and MIN.
If the fluid level is extremely low, check the brake system for
leaks.
Fluid specification:
SAE J1703 or FMVSS 116, DOT-3
Caution
• The fluid in the reservoir must be maintained at 3/4
level or higher during bleeding.
• Do not allow the brake fluid to get on painted
surfaces.
Replacement
1. Remove the brake fluid from the reservoir with a suction
pump.
2. Fill the reservoir with clean brake fluid.
3. Attach a vinyl tube to the bleeder screw and place the oth-
er end of the tube in a clear container.
4. Pump out the old brake fluid by loosening the bleeder
screws one by one and pumping the brake pedal until only
clean fluid is expelled.
5. Fill the reservoir to the specified level.

On-vehicle Inspection
Pedal height
Check that the distance from the center of the upper surface
of the pedal pad to the carpet is as specified.
Pedal height= 171-181mm (6.93-7.13 in)
(With carpet)
Adjustment
1. Disconnect the stoplight switch connector.
2. Loosen locknut
®
and turn switch
®
until it does not con-
tact the pedal.
3. Loosen locknut
@
and turn rod
©
to adjust the height.
4. Adjust the pedal free play and tighten operating rod lock·
nut @.
5. Turn the stoplight switch until it contacts the pedal; then turn
an additional 112 turn. Tighten the locknut.
