The system diagram is as shown in figure. The battery, S-sensor, air bag module, and D-sensors are con-
nected is series via diagnostic module.
When the S-sensor and one of the D-sensors are activated (closed) simultaneously, electric current flows
to trigger the igniter in the air bag module_
The backup battery supplies the current to trigger the igniter if the battery or fuses fail during a collision.
The diagnostic module is fitted to monitor the system for failures. It warns the driver of such by illuminating
or flashing the air bag warning lamp.
