Air Cleaner Element
Caution
• Do not clean the air cleaner element with com-
pressed air.
Visually check the air cleaner element for excessive dirt, dam-
age, or oil. Replace if necessary.
ADJUSTMENT
Preparation
1. Check the condition of the engine (spark plugs, leaks in
hoses, etc.).
2. Make sure all accessories are OFF.
3. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
Note
• When using an externally powered timing light
and/or tachometer connect it to the power connec-
tor (Blue: l-pin).
Warning
• Do not ground the power connector terminal (Blue:
l-pin); the wiper 20A fuse will be burned.
4. Connect a timing light and tachometer to the diagnosis con-
nector terminal

Ignition Timing
Caution
• Be extremely careful when making connections to
the diagnosis connector as a mistaken connection
will cause a malfunction.
1. Connect the SST and set the TEST SW to "SELF TEST"
or connect diagnosis connector terminals TEN and GND
with a jumper wire.
2. Check the idle speed, and set it to specification if neces-
sary. (Refer to page F-76.)
Idle speed: 850
±
50 rpm
3. Verify that the timing mark (Yellow) on the crankshaft pul-
ley and the timing belt cover are aligned.
Ignition timing: 10
