Shift the transmission to neutral position

Press button : for approximately three
seconds.
Manual regeneration only begins if:
the engine oil and exhaust temperatures

are sufficiently high

AdBlue
is not frozen
R
the system is functioning without prob-
R
lems
The É indicator lamp lights up in the
instrument cluster and the engine speed is
increased.
When regeneration is finished:
the É indicator lamp in the instru-
R
ment cluster goes out
the engine speed is reduced to idling
R
speed
Regeneration is automatically interrupted if
you:
move the multifunction lever into position
R
D or R
release the parking brake
R
switch on the regeneration block
R
The interruption reduces the engine speed to
idling speed.
During regeneration, the engine noise
i
may change.
If the on-board computer prompts you to
i
carry out manual regeneration when the
outside temperature is low, start regener-
ation before parking the vehicle.
If you park the vehicle without regenerat-
ing, you can only begin manual regenera-
tion after the engine warming-up phase.
Start the manual regeneration after a thaw-
ing time of up to 60 minutes if:

is frozen

you have parked the vehicle without
R
regenerating
Replacing the filter

WARNING
Direct contact or inhalation of soot particles is
hazardous to health. There is a risk of injury.
Have the diesel particle filter replaced at a
qualified specialist workshop.
Fuel consumption
Fuel consumption depends on:
vehicle version
R
operating conditions
R
the fuel type in use
R
maintenance
R
driving resistance
R
your driving style
R
For these reasons, exact figures about any
individual vehicle's fuel consumption cannot
be provided.
The on-board computer shows informa-

tion on average fuel consumption in the trip
data menu ß(

page 119).

consumption is between approx-
imately 2 to 4 % of fuel consumption.
Engine oil consumption
After running-in the engine, oil consumption
may reach 0.2 % of the vehicle's fuel con-
sumption.
Increased distance covered and more ardu-
ous operating conditions could result in vehi-
cles exceeding this value.
Limiting the speed
If the maximum speed of the vehicle is excee-
ded, there is a risk that tractor/trailer com-
