Navigation mode indicators

CALE WARNINGS WITH RASTER CHARTS
When the current scale is bigger than the original scale the scale indicator is displayed in
yellow together with the warning "Overscale". This warning is also displayed in the
Legend panel.
When the current scale is smaller than the original scale the scale indicator is displayed in
yellow together with the warning "Underscale". This warning is also displayed in the
Legend panel.
If own ship's position is covered by an chart with a larger scale than the scale in use the
warning "BC" is displayed in the scale indicator and "Better chart exists" in the Legend
panel.
GPS I
NDICATOR
The GPS or D.R. (Dead Reckoning) indicator shows the current navigation mode.
The GPS mode is the normal mode, the ship's position being acquired from the GPS,
however, when no more data is received, the system automatically warns the navigator and
switches to the D.R. (Dead Reckoning) mode. Once communication with the GPS is restored
the system reverts to the GPS mode.

UALITY
When the GPS sends the information about quality of the positioning, the quality is displayed
in the GPS indicator as a red bar graph.

ECDIS900 can receive information from several different GPS sensors and the master GPS
may be selected by clicking right button in the Navigation mode indicator.

ASTER
AND
When the slave GPS has a better position quality than the master one, the ECDIS900 warns
the navigator by displaying a yellow rectangle around the GPS indicator. Then the master GPS
can manually be selected as described above.
D
R
EAD
ECKONING MODE
When the GPS fails, ECDIS900 switches automatically to the D.R. mode and calculates the
ship positions using log/gyro data. See Chapter Ship -

IMULATION MODE
When the GPS fails and no log/gyro data are available the system switches to the simulation
mode and the indicator displays "No Position". The ship position panel displays dotted line
and a red cross on top of the ship's icon indicates the simulation.

EPLAY MODE
The REPLAY indicator shows that an historical logbook is being replayed. At the end of the
replay the navigation mode indicator is switched back to the appropriate GPS or D.R. status.
