C-MAP Overview

C-MAP

Other charts, not official charts, have not been tested by DNV during ECDIS900

ECDIS is compatible with the C-MAP charts, version CM-93 Edition 3, Professional, Professional
+, and C-MAP ENC. C-MAP database is vector based charts and the use of C-MAP charts in
ECDIS is very similar to the use of ENC data.
C-MAP database covers a large part of the world and is divided in 9 different zones covering a
limited geographical area, each of them being divided in smaller areas.
The charts are copy-protected and the user has to order and install the permits for the charts
before using them.

Seamless mode can be activated between CMAP ENC and either C-MAP Professional or
Professional+
ECDIS is delivered together with a dungle, which is unique and defined by a public ID
displayed on top of the dungle.
ATTENTION
During installation of ECDIS be careful to enter the proper the public dungle ID. The ID is
essential when CMAP license is ordered.

HART DATABASE INSTALLATION
The C-MAP database is delivered on a CD called CM93 Edition 3.
To install the C-MAP database proceed as follow:
Insert the CD in the PC.
Press the button "ChartHandling" and select the panel CMAP.
Press the button "Install new database".
Select the file called CM93-3 located on the C-MAP CD ROM.
The version number of the database is displayed on the top of the window.
Press "Install".
Then the charts are copied on the hard disk and the copy process takes 5-10 minutes.
C-MAP permits are available for a limited period (One year in general) and give access to one
or several areas and zones or to the complete database. At any time it is possible to extend
the permits by ordering permits for another zone.
A single C-MAP CD contains all world charts and is defined by a version number of the
database.
