Update request and response

The online update is possible when the PC is connected to Internet. This can be done in
different ways:
The ECDIS PC is connected to the LAN and a PC on the LAN is the Internet access server

with the MBA software installed
The ECDIS PC has the MBA software installed and uses a modem and the connection
•
with the Internet provider is established manually.
A GSM is connected to the PC with the MBA software installed and the connection with
•
the Internet provider is established manually.
REMARK
It is also possible to use ARCS and ENC update services even when the ECDIS900 PC is not
connected to Internet. Then it is necessary to use either a removable drive.
When the connection is established, the user activates the dialogue Chart Handling in
ECDIS900 and presses the button Update by email.
The user can select to update:
Only selected charts
•
All charts necessary for a specific voyage
•
All charts included inside the screen area
•
All charts installed on board.
•
Automatically the ECDIS900checks the status of all installed charts and the last applied
updates for each chart.
A file containing all information concerning the status of all charts and updates is created and
sent by email to the chart server.

ESPONSE
After few minutes the user receives an answer by email.
ECDIS900 detects automatically answer from the chart server and applies the update to the
database after informing the user.
