Wave and wind resistance

IMPORTANT:
when planning a voyage in areas with narrow water, channels, islands,
shallow water high accuracy must be used.
A
DJUST WAVE RESISTANCE
During sea trail the wave resistance has been measured and during installation of VDS the
proper ship model has been installed.
Three curves for 3 different speeds describe the speed loss of the ship according to wave
height.
At 16 Kn the ship loses 10 knots with 7 meters waves.
Adjust wave resistance (0.5..1.5): the wave resistance made from sea trial may not be
completely correct and the navigator can adjust the curves according to his experience by
changing the calibration coefficient called Wave resistance.
It is recommended to start with a value of 1.0 for this coefficient and adjust it as required by
experience.
REMARK:
the wind impact curve cannot be adjusted.
A
DJUST HULL ROUGHNESS
During sea trail the speed – power and the fuel consumption have been measured and
during installation of VDS the proper ship model has been installed.
