ARCS Overview
ARCS
By default, ECDIS displays charts in a chart-by-chart mode. However the option
mode
is available making it possible to display the active ARCS chart together with adjacent
charts in a seamless way.
ARCS charts are scanned copies of paper charts. A displayed ARCS chart includes the same
information as appears on the copied paper chart. Source information about each chart is
accessible from the dialogue ARCS Properties.

OPY PROTECTION
ARCS charts are copy protected with a dongle. In order to use and display ARCS charts in
ECDIS it is necessary to:
Enter a valid ARCS PIN code when required.

Install the charts from the Cds and update them.

Where several ECDIS workstations are installed on board a ship, duplicate dungles can be
provided using the same ARCS license. The chart licenses and updates have to be installed
and updated locally on each workstation.

The ECDIS900 software is copy protected with a dongle. Additionally ARCS are PIN protected
(Personal Identification Number).
Each ARCS chart permit has a unique 40-digit code linked to a UKHO User Permit Number.
