STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION
NOTE: To minimize corrosion and to make future removal of the steering wheel easier, apply a small amount of oil or
anti-seize compound to steering shaft before installing the steering wheel.
1.
Install the steering wheel (7) on the steering column shaft (9). Be sure to align the match marks placed on the
wheel and steering column in step 4 above (Figure 7-3, Page 7-3).
2.
Install the steering wheel bolt (6) and tighten to 40.6 ft-lb (55 N·m).
3.
Install the scorecard plate (1).
4.
If required, install the plate mounting screws (8). Tighten screws to 16 in-lb (1.8 N·m).
STEERING COLUMN

STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect the batteries and discharge the controller. See Disconnecting the Batteries – Electric Vehicles
on page 1-3.
2.
Remove the steering wheel as previously instructed.
3.
Remove the dash insert, instrument panel, dash assembly, and front bumper. See Section 4 – Body and Trim.
4.
Remove the bolt (11) that secures the steering column universal joint to the pinion shaft of the steering gear
(Figure 7-3, Page 7-3).
5.
Remove the four bolts (10) that secure the steering column to the frame.
6.
Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
