Ethernet Configuration Commands
duplex
The duplex Interface Configuration (Ethernet) mode command configures the full/half duplex
operation of a given Ethernet interface when not using auto-negotiation. To restore the default
configuration, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
duplex {half | full}
no duplex
Parameters
■
half — Forces half-duplex operation
■
full — Forces full-duplex operation
Default Setting
The interface is set to full duplex.

Command Usage
When configuring a particular duplex mode on the port operating at 10/100 Mbps, disable the
auto-negotiation on that port.
Half duplex mode can be set only for ports operating at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps.
Example
The following command configures the duplex operation of Ethernet port 1/e5 to full duplex
operation.
Console(config)# interface ethernet 1/e5
Console(config-if)# duplex full
