Vital Product Data
1 Transmit VPD and Send to IBM
Note: This section will collect VPD data from all
defined CPC's that are connected to the Hardware
Management Console
1. Open the Task List from the Views area.
2. Open CPC Configuration from the Task
List Work Area.
3. Open Groups from the Views area.
4. Drag and drop the Defined CPC's from the
Groups Work Area onto Transmit Vital
Product Data in the CPC Configuration
area.
Note: This function will collect the VPD
data from all of the CPC's Support
Element. It also checks to see that all
CPC's in the defined group (CPC's that
have the same system serial number)
report. If a mismatch is detected, NO DATA
will be reported.
5. The Transmit Vital Product Data to IBM,
panel displays.
6. Select System (Support Element) Vital
Product Data if working from a Hardware
Management Console also select
Hardware Management Console Vital
Product Data.
7. If an IBM Support System connection is
available Select Transmit Data otherwise
select Dump to Diskette.
8. Follow the instructions you are given on the
panel to complete this task.
9. Go to "Advising the Customer of Their
Responsibilities" on page 6-73.
