Chapter 5. I/O and Support Processor Installation

If the system being installed has a Hardware Management Console attached go to "Logon I/O and
Support Processor" on page 5-2

Setup Async dialing for blind dialing

|
The dialing facilities of the console require that the
modem be attached to a functional public switched
phone network. This implies the existence of a dial
tone that is recognized by the modem. If the
phone service does not present a recognizable dial
tone, a call cannot be made unless the console is
configured to use a blind dial. Blind dial means
that the modem will not wait for a dial tone, but will
dial whether there is a dial tone or not, possibly
disrupting an in progress call.
Use the following procedure to setup the Async
(TCP/IP) dialing. ONLY if you have an
unrecognizable dial tone.
|
1. Logon as Sysprog.
|
2. Select Console Actions from the Views
|
area.
|
3. Select Customize dial Information.
|
4. Ensure Enable Remote Service is
|
checked.
|
5. In the dial prefix box a B for blind dialing.
|
6. Select the Next button.
|
7. Enter the information for your location.
|
8. Select the Finish button.
