3 Connecting the mouse
1. Connect the mouse to the mouse
connection at the rear of the system unit.
You will find a mouse symbol defining the
correct plug location.
4 Connecting the display
1. Connect the display signal cable to the
display connection at the rear of the system
unit. You will find a display symbol defining
the correct plug location.
5 Locating the communication adapter cable
Skip this step if you do not have a modem and
continue on step 12.
Determine if communication is to be
synchronous or Asynchronous.
1. Locate the communication adapter cable.
IBM 7852 Model 400 modem only.
a. Synchronous P/N 85H7180.
b. Asynchronous P/N 21L4322.
Note: The modem may be customer supplied, if
so ask the customer to supply you with this
cable.

Installing the System
Note:
Determination Considerations:
1. If this is not a newly installed HMC,
then use synchronous if the HMC
already uses synchronous
communications.
2. If this is a newly installed HMC and the
customer has no objections, use an
Asynchronous connection, otherwise
use a synchronous connection.
3. EMEA ONLY. Ensure that the TCP/IP
(Asynchronous) Interface for Remote
Service Facilities is supported.
