4 Ethernet LAN
Note: If connecting a EtherNet adapter to
an existing Hardware Management
Console on a token-ring LAN you
will need to pass through a
customer supplied bridge unit to
bridge the EtherNet adapter to the
token-ring network.
If you are connecting to an existing
EtherNet LAN go to step 5
An 8242 HUB is shipped to create and
EtherNet LAN.
1. Connect the power supply to the DC IN 5v
connection on the 8242.
2. Connect the power adapter to building
power.
3. Connect the EtherNet Cable (PR 72H3255)
from the CPC frame at LG18.
4. Connect other end of the cable to the
8242/HUB at any available port.
The connection to the Hardware
Management Console will be made later in
this publication.
5. If making a secondary EtherNet I/O and
Support Processor communication
connection connect the EtherNet cable at
LG12.
6. If connecting multiple 7060 String('s)
together connect the next 7060 String to
the next available relay of the 8242/HUB.
Repeat until all 7060 String are plugged.
Note: The MDI and the last MDI-X port are wired
directly together. You cannot connect two
devices to these ports on the same HUB.
The MDI port is very useful for connecting
HUBs together.
Cables must be routed through the HUB.
