Installing Emulated I/O cables

LAN (Local Area Network) Connections
Ethernet/Token-Ring located in LG12, LG11, and LG10
The (Token-Ring) feature card requires special handling for configuration. Each card has two
connectors: an RJ-45 and a 9 pin D-shell. Only one will be used. Configuration of a LAN port
is done each time the card is powered on and only one wrap connector or LAN cable is
plugged on each port. Each port will be configured to match the wrap plug or LAN cable that
is plugged. If there is not a wrap connector or LAN cable plugged for a port, no configuration
takes place.
In addition to the combined (Ethernet/Token-Ring) slots, there is a Token-Ring only adapter
available in slot LG09 and an Ethernet connection available at LG17 that can become emulated
I/O.
Also available are WAC (Wide Area Connector) and MPM2 (MultiPort Model 2) adapters
Ensure the configuration matches the customer order. Consult the chart Table 6-2 for the
correct plugging sequence.
The following chart shows the slots that the cards will be installed in according to the
customer's order. This is not the order that the adapters will be configured. The last adapter
installed of an adapter type will be the first adapter seen by the operating system at power-on.
