Performing hardware maintenance and mechanical assembly

Equipment required

You need the following tools, based on the component you are replacing:
• antistatic wrist strap or antistatic mat
• Phillips No. 1 and No. 2 screwdrivers
• tweezers

Before you begin

Shut down the server software. Then remove the server from the switch and place it on a static-
resistant surface, with the component side facing up.
If you need to replace the entire 201i server, review
review the procedures for installing the server and conducting diagnostic tests.

Removing the server from the switch

Introduction

You must remove the server from the switch before you replace the following components:
• hard drive
• software feature key (dongle)
Note:
You can replace an MPC-8 card without powering down the 201i server.
