You can install up to four AC power supplies in EX9214 switches.
CAUTION:
Do not mix different types of power supplies (AC and DC) in the
same chassis.
NOTE:
Each power supply must be connected to a dedicated AC power
source outlet and a dedicated customer site circuit breaker.
Before you begin to connect power to the switch:
Ensure you understand how to prevent Electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. See
"Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage" on page
Ensure that you have connected the switch chassis to earth ground.
CAUTION:
To meet safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI)
requirements and to ensure proper operation, EX9214 switches must be
adequately grounded before they are connected to power.
For installations that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis,
use the protective earthing terminal on the EX9214 switch chassis to
connect to the earth ground. For instructions on connecting the switch to
ground using a separate grounding conductor, see
Ground to an EX Series Switch" on page
An EX9214 switch gets additional grounding when you plug the power
supply in the switch into a grounded AC power outlet by using the AC power
cord appropriate for your geographical location. See
Specifications for an EX9214 Switch" on page
Install power supplies in the switch. See
Switch" on page

Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
ESD grounding strap
If you are using the power supply in one-feed mode, one AC nominal 220 VAC 20 A
power cord appropriate for your geographical location. If you are using the power supply
in two-feed mode, two AC nominal 220 VAC 20 A power cords appropriate for your
geographical location. See
page 97
to identify the power cord with the type of plug appropriate for your
