Intermec EasyCoder 501 XP & 601 XP – Service Manual
When using peel-off operation, the labels would drop from the
liner and get stuck on for example the table if you use a Start Adjust
value as large as -175. You should rather use a slightly smaller
value so the rear edge of the label remains stuck to the liner, but
not more than the label easily can be pulled away, manually or by
an automatic applicator. Use a Stop Adjust value of around -60 ( 5
mm/0.20 inches), that is after the printing is completed 5 mm less
of paper feed than normal will be performed. However, if you still
want to print from the top of the label, you must compensate by
a Start Adjust value of -115 ( 10 mm/0.39 inches. ) Note that the
sum of the Start and Stop Adjust values always is 175 dots (15
mm/0.59 inches), which equals the distance between dot line and
tear bar.
15.7 mm
Tear Bar
Cut off operation is another case where you have to use Start and
Stop Adjust. The cutting edge of the cutter is situated approxi-
mately 35 mm (1.38 inches) in front of the dot line and 20 mm
(0.79 inches) in front of the tear bar.
To cut between labels, you must use a Stop Adjust of around +270
dots ( 22.5 mm/0.89 inches) to feed out the required extra 20
mm (0.79 inches) of media after the printing is completed and
before the cutter is activated. Now, this means that you will start the
printing well down the label, unless you compensate with a Start
Adjustment of approximately -441 dots ( 35 mm/1.38 inches.)
Note that the sum of the Start and Stop Adjust values is still around
175 dots (15 mm/0.59 inches).
To cut variable length strip, use start adjust -441 and stop adjust
+375.
A special case is tickets with black marks. It is recommended to
place the black mark adjacent to the perforation or the intended
tear off line. If the black mark is placed further down the media
path, this must be compensated for by a negative Stop Adjust set-
ting.
