4 Features and Applications
Features
Covering Calls and Having Calls Covered
The Feature Finder in
Console (DLC) operators may need when they are either covering calls for others
or having their calls handled by others. When there is no voice mail system,
operators cover calls more than anyone else, and many of these features apply to
them. Operator-only features are described in a later section.
As explained later in this chapter, you do not have to use the features below for
covering calls. Shared lines (personal, prime, or SSA) offer another method for
people working closely together to join or cover one another's calls.
Even though many of these features can be programmed by users at their own
telephones, it is important that coverage be planned centrally, so that groups and
operators can be assigned to provide coverage as needed. (Users cannot assign
operators and groups to cover calls.)
NOTE:
In Release 6.0 and later systems, the Centrex Transfer via Remote Call
Forwarding feature allows you to forward Centrex calls on the same
Centrex line on which they arrived. For details, see

NOTE:
In Release 6.1 and later systems, a calling group on one MERLIN
LEGEND system can provide coverage for extensions to another MERLIN
LEGEND system. In addition, the voice messaging system on one MERLIN
LEGEND system can be shared by other MERLIN LEGEND systems. This
is called "Centralized Voice Messaging." For this coverage and for
Centralized Voice Messaging, the systems must be directly connected by
tie or PRI tandem trunks, and all systems must be in Hybrid/PBX mode.
