Check the Coolant Level
‹ WARNING
Check the coolant level when the engine is cold.
Whenever the cap on the expansion tank needs
to be removed, remember that the system may
be under pressure which could cause hot cool-
ant to be ejected.
1
1. Remove the filler cap (1) on the radiator expan-
sion tank.
2. There must be approximately 6 mm (1/4") of
coolant in the bottom of the tank when the en-
gine is cold.
3. If the water level is not correct, top up with cool-
ant to approximately 6 mm (1/4") in the bottom of
the tank.
Refer to Specifications, Chapter 1 -
Recommended Fuels, Lubricants and Cool-
ant Additives.
Note: If there is too much coolant in the tank, when
cold, the tank will purge itself and overflow with ex-
cess coolant.
‹ CAUTION
If coolant is ever drained from the cooling sys-
tem
it
must
anti-corrosion/antifreeze portion of 50% by vol-
ume. Do not use water alone.
Check the Air Cleaner Service Indicator
1. Check the indication window (1) on the air
cleaner service indicator.
